Capacity Building

Capacity Building

Afya Charitable Trust (ACT) believes that strong healthcare systems are built on skilled, motivated, and well-equipped professionals. Our Capacity Building Program focuses on enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of healthcare workers serving in pastoral and hard-to-reach communities, ensuring they can provide quality and compassionate care.

Empowering the Healthcare Workforce

Through targeted training programs, mentorship, and continuous professional development, ACT equips nurses, clinical officers, community health volunteers, and medical students with practical and up-to-date skills. We partner with medical training institutions and county health departments to standardize training modules and promote best practices in primary healthcare, maternal health, and disease prevention.

Building Sustainable Health Systems

Our approach goes beyond classroom training—we foster a culture of learning and innovation within the health sector. ACT facilitates peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, supports the integration of digital health tools, and strengthens management capacities within rural health facilities. We also provide logistical support, equipment, and mentorship opportunities to healthcare centers, ensuring that trained professionals have the resources they need to excel. By building local capacity and investing in people, we are creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of skilled healthcare providers who can respond effectively to emerging health challenges and deliver lasting impact in Kenya’s underserved regions.
