Advocacy & Policy Engagement
Afya Charitable Trust (ACT) recognizes that sustainable healthcare improvement goes beyond service delivery—it requires strong advocacy and inclusive policy dialogue. Our Advocacy & Policy Engagement Program works to ensure that the voices of marginalized pastoralist communities are heard and reflected in national and county health strategies.
Strengthening Health Governance
We collaborate with government institutions, development partners, and civil society organizations to influence health policy reforms that prioritize equity, accessibility, and resilience in rural health systems. By engaging local leaders and policymakers, we promote data-driven decision-making and accountability in healthcare delivery.
Driving Long-Term Policy Impact
Through evidence-based advocacy, ACT bridges the gap between community needs and policy action. We conduct policy research, organize stakeholder forums, and develop position papers that highlight the unique health challenges of pastoral regions. Our program empowers community representatives to participate in health planning processes and pushes for the allocation of adequate resources to maternal, child, and youth health. By maintaining continuous dialogue with county and national leaders, we champion inclusive policies that protect vulnerable populations and drive lasting systemic change across Kenya’s healthcare landscape.
