Health Education & Awareness
At Afya Charitable Trust (ACT), we believe that informed communities are healthier communities. Our Health Education & Awareness Program focuses on empowering individuals with knowledge that promotes preventive healthcare practices, encourages early treatment seeking, and supports healthier lifestyles within Kenya’s pastoral region
Promoting Preventive Health Behavior
Through outreach campaigns, school health programs, and community dialogue sessions, ACT spreads awareness on key health issues such as maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, reproductive health, and disease prevention. We work closely with local leaders, teachers, and health volunteers to ensure that vital health information reaches even the most remote villages in a culturally sensitive and engaging way.
Empowering Communities Through Knowledge
Our program leverages innovative communication tools—including radio broadcasts, community theater, mobile health education units, and digital platforms—to reach diverse audiences effectively. ACT trains peer educators and community champions who act as trusted messengers, fostering open discussions and breaking health-related stigmas. We also develop educational materials in local languages to ensure inclusivity and understanding. By equipping communities with accurate health information and practical skills, ACT nurtures a generation that values prevention, embraces healthy living, and actively participates in building resilient and sustainable health systems across Kenya’s pastoralist regions.
